Gun fight rages in Kashmir capital Srinagar, Two militants trapped

Srinagar: At least two militants are trapped in a building located outside CRPF camp in Karan Nagar area of Kashmir capital Srinagar city.

Reports said that massive exchange of fire is going on between militants and Government Forces.

The area has been sealed to prevent militants from escaping.

Earlier, Indian Para military troopers claimed that they foiled a Fidayeen attack in the heart of Srinagar city during wee hours of Monday.

Reports said that two armed militants tried to sneak into Karan Nagar based CRPF camp, however, the security guard shortly after observing their movement fired upon them. The militants reportedly managed to escape from the spot.

The incident occured at 4:30 of Monday morning. The gun shots created panic in the area while combined forces launched a search operation.

The contact with the militants was established at 10:15. The gun fight is in progress, said a police official.

An official said that 2 militants carrying pithu bags and armed with AK 47 approached  towards 23 Battalion CRPF camp in Karan Nagar. However, Sentry observed their movement and immediately opened fire.
