Sunjuwan Attack: Operation Still In Progress

Jammu: The gun fight at Sunjwan Military Station is still in progress. Reports of intermittent firing are coming from there while police sources said that three militants have been gunned down so far while a 4th militant is still present in the building.

Early hours of Sunday saw intermittent firing from the militants holed up near the residential quarters inside the camp. Initially it was believed that four militants had entered the camp, the exact number is still not clear.

The army is still tightening cordon so that the militants can be neutralised as soon as possible.

Police sources said that 3 militants and two Army officers have been killed in the attack so far, however, reliable sources put the toll to 9. They said so far 5 army soldiers, one civilian and 3 militants ve been killed in Sunjuwan assault.

Pertinently a group of Fidayeen managed to sneak into the Sunjwan military base near Jammu on Saturday morning and attacked army residential area in which two junior commissioned officers were killed while nine others were injured, including women and a Major, from the 6 Mahar Regiment.

In the operations, the troops of the 6 Mahar Regiment and army’s Para Special Forces killed three militants even as the force geared up for further operations.
